I am a personal essayist based in Singapore, writing under the name Slow Ink Pro — a phrase that describes both the pace and the medium of the work I care about. I believe language is at its most honest when it has been allowed to dry slowly, when the first draft has rested in a drawer long enough for its excess to evaporate.

My writing draws from ordinary life: the view from a third-floor studio, conversations overheard on buses, the particular quality of rain on tropical glass. I am not a journalist reporting events, nor a critic assigning scores. I write to understand what it feels like to be alive in a place that never quite stands still, and to share that understanding with readers who value reflection over reaction.

The Mount Sophia studio

The studio occupies a modest corner on the third floor of Tree House at 11 Mount Sophia. It is a room of wood and paper — shelves of notebooks, a desk positioned to catch the morning light, a chair worn at the arms from years of leaning forward to read a line aloud before committing it to the page. The building sits on one of Singapore's quieter hills, close enough to the city centre to hear its pulse but far enough to think without interruption.

I keep the studio open on Tuesday through Saturday, from eleven in the morning until six in the evening. These hours are for writing, correspondence, and occasional visits from readers who wish to talk about books, pens, or the craft of sentences. Appointments are preferred; a note through the contact form or a direct email to hello@slowinkpro.life is the simplest way to arrange a meeting.

What you will find here

This site collects several kinds of writing, each with its own rhythm:

• Notes — brief daily observations, rarely longer than a paragraph, written quickly and left mostly unedited.
• Essays — longer personal pieces that take weeks or months to finish, often returning to the same image or question from different angles.
• Sketches — short vignettes paired with photographs from the studio and the streets nearby.
• Dispatches — field notes from walks through Singapore, written on the move and revised at the desk.

All work is published in English, with occasional Singlish phrases retained when they carry a texture that standard English cannot reproduce. The Archive organises everything by month for readers who prefer to browse backward through time.

A note on correspondence

I read every message sent to hello@slowinkpro.life. Replies may take a few days — I answer letters in the order they arrive, and I do not use automated responses. If you write about something you read here, please include the title; it helps me find the piece you mean among the notebooks stacked on my shelf.

Write as if the reader is sitting across from you, waiting for you to finish your tea before you begin.
